Spring Chicken

It looks like Spring is here, at last. At least, I can hope that the weather stays this nice. It was beautiful, clear blue skies and warm all today - perfect weather for riding, sunbathing, reading and working outside…everything I love to do.

Training was blah last week. After the BB3, I took a few days off, bought some new tires, and even went for a run!

When it rains (and up until today it’s been pouring), I generally don’t like to go for either road or mountain rides. It’s just too cold this time of year to tolerate rain and even hail. Plus, it’s too dangerous. I could slip and break my monkey bone and waste time healing on the sunny days when I could have been spending it outside.

So, I sometimes go running, go swimming, or ride the indoor trainers. I did a few trainer rides, but even that gets boring some times. I like to stay excited…

I think that must be one of the main reasons why I like cycling so damn much. I truly get excited about exploring new places. I am not the type of guy who rides the same loops every week. No. I go out there and make my own new loops, find driveways, access roads, and other crazy stuff just to keep it interesting. Besides, what’s better than being able to say that you rode across two, three, or even four counties in one day?

So, when it’s raining out there, and the weather is saying “go back inside - we don’t want you out here!” I easily shrug my shoulders and say, “Yes, sir,” and snuggle up with my warm laptop and watch some new corny reality tv show like “Rock of Love” with my wife - go Bret!
